Sir,
13
I have the honour to state, that I joined the Hong Kong Police Force on 26.11.26 and served until 1.2.43, when my post was abolished. I was attached to C.I.D. (Special Branch) when the Pacific war broke out in December 1941. While discharging my duties faithfully in the Front, I with several others, was captured by the Japanese in the North Points before the fall of Hong Kong, and had to experience difficulties as a Prisoner of war for 3 years & 8 months. I was imprisoned twice on the charge of having been Pro-British. The first time I was released after few days decention, but the second time, I had to undergo barberous Japanese atrocities from March till May 1942 with other prominent Indians in the Colony at Victoria Jail, Hong Kong, but still I was not afraid; I arranged with a Chinese a considerable member of Police, and Military personnels to escape to "Wai Chow" etc. and also supplied commodities to European Officers in internal camp at Sham Shui Po & Argyle street, through Miss Rose at the risk of my life; fully explained in my previous application addressed to Colonial Secretary & Commissioner of Police Hong Kong. I could not flee myself as I had my family with me in Hong Kong, though I applied thrice for a permit to go to Macan which was refused by the Gendarme; eventually hostilities came to an end in August 1945 and I resumed my duties as a Police Officer in Indian Affairs Office, Dina House, where I worked until 27.12.45 when I was repatriatea to India.
Mr.Ujagar Singh, Officer on special duty from the H.K. Government, in India, informed me, that my post was abolished, under H.K.Government new scheme and my retirement on pension was with the effect from 1.2.48. The copy of such information letter is attached nerowith.
Mr.Portallian, Officer on special duty for Pakistan, visited Lahore în 1948. Being all alone he requested me to help him in discharging his mission, which I did volunteerily and gave him all possible help. Before his departure he promised to send the pension paper within three months. Liquidating all my arrears account, etc. approximately six months previously I put forward, the abovementioned application, but regret to say that I have not received any intimation so far. Moreover, I am now a refugee from East Punjab; therefore I could crave your goodself to consider favourably my claims as under:
1. Early despatch of my Pension papers.
•
2. Consideration of my pension according to the Pension Regulation No.8(F) whereas I should be granted full pension of 25 years service, as it obligatory on me, although I was keen to serve the Government.

enhancement in pay since January 1947.
4. Grant of 3 years & months salary, i.e. back pay from 25.1.41
to 1.9.45.

to me so far).
(a Reward of three months salary not paid
6. The arrears being the augmentation is granted to Indian Police
since 1941 to 13.48.
